Only 14-15% power purchased from pvt sector and on merit order: Gujarat Govt
March 18, 2023
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government has refuted opposition allegations that the state has been imposing load shedding due to a lack of power supply.
In a statement released today, a spokesperson for the Gujarat government said, “the state only purchases 14-15% of its power from the private sector and that too on merit order. It’s not about who supplies the power but who supplies it at a cheaper rate. We don’t impose load shedding in Gujarat like Govts in Punjab, and Rajasthan.
The spokesperson added that due to global shortages and price hikes, gas-based power generation costs are as high as Rs. 28 per unit. Therefore, the state government did not purchase power from such units. DeshGujarat
