Gujarat tops in installed electricity generation capacity in India

New Delhi: Gujarat tops the list of Indian states for installed electricity generation capacity, according to the ‘Energy Statistics India’ report for 2023 by MOSPI.
In 2022, Gujarat had an installed capacity of 37.35 GW, surpassing Maharashtra’s 36.12 GW. The state’s renewable energy capacity grew by 25% from 13,214 megawatts (MW) to 16,587MW between 2020-21 to 2021-22, with solar power capacity rising by 61% to 7,180 MW.
Gujarat ranked second in the potential of renewable power, accounting for 12% of India’s total capacity, and experts suggest that industrialization and potential solar and wind projects can boost renewable energy capacity. DeshGujarat
