March 22, 2023
Kevadia: Three e-rickshaws got destroyed after catching fire recently while they were being charged at the Statue of Unity, a popular tourist destination.
The e-rickshaws are used to transport tourists around the statue complex. Last year, a total of 19 e-rickshaws at the statue burned in similar incidents.
The Local Crime Branch is currently investigating the cause of the fire in the e-rickshaws. The Forensic Science Laboratory team has also started an investigation. The statue complex currently has 30 e-rickshaws and 40 buses for tourists.
Contrary to news reports that services of e-rikshaws are discontinued at Statue of Unity fame Ektanagar, the e-rickshaws are still operating. The government aims to make Ektanagar an e-vehicle-only destination. DeshGujarat
