Joint DGFT of Rajkot caught by CBI in bribe case jumps to death from his office

Rajkot: Jawri Mal Bishnoi, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in Rajkot who was caught by the CBI taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh on Friday, jumped from the 4th floor of his office during the search operation today.

He was taken to the civil hospital where he was declared dead by doctors. His family members had an altercation with CBI officials at the hospital and are claiming that this was not a suicide but a murder.

The CBI had arrested Bishnoi for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5 lakh from a complainant. A case was registered against him on allegations of demanding undue advantage of Rs. 9 lakh from the same complainant. The complainant had submitted 6 files containing all required documents of periodical export of food cans to the DGFT, Rajkot, to issue NOC (No Objection Certificate) for the release of their bank guarantee of around Rs. 50 lakh.
