Congress MLAs suspended from Gujarat Assembly for rest of the part of Budget session

Gandhinagar: All legislators of the opposition Congress party are suspended from the State Assembly for the rest of the days of the ongoing Budget session. The budget session is going to conclude on March 29.

During the question hour, Congress legislators were seen shouting slogans against Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani. The Congress MLAs were wearing black clothes to exhibit their protest. As they entered the well with placards and slogans chanting, the Speaker warned them repeatedly to allow the question hour to proceed and later named them and suspended them for a day under rule 51. The Congress MLAs were removed from the house subsequently, some with required force. There are 17 Congress MLAs in the 182-strong house.

Later the ruling party under rule 52 proposed the suspension of Congress MLAs not just for a day but for the rest of the part of the session. The suspension was formally declared by Speaker after a majority in favor of suspension. DeshGujarat
