Gujarat receives Tourism awards from the Centre

New Delhi: Gujarat received two awards in the tourism sector during an award function organised as part of the two-day Chintan Shibir in New Delhi.

The Ministry of Tourism organized a two-day Chintan Shibir on March 28 and 29 in New Delhi to deliberate and formulate strategies for promoting ‘Tourism in Mission Mode’. As a part of this Chintan Shibir, an award function was organized for the tourism sector in various categories.

In this award function, Gujarat received the award under two categories. The Interpretation Center at the Watch Tower at Sharmishtha Lake in Vadnagar received the award in the category of ‘Best Interpretation Centre’. In the category of ‘Best Sound and Light Show’, Gujarat received the runner up award for the Light and Sound Show at Rajkot-based Alfred High School.

Shri Mulubhai Bera, Hon’ble Tourism Minister of Gujarat received the award from Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy. These awards have been given under the Swadesh Darshan Yojana launched by the Government of India.

It is worth mentioning that Swadesh Darshan Yojana was started in the year 2014-15. This scheme has been created along with two schemes, one is Prasad Darshan scheme and the other is the Swadesh Darshan scheme. DeshGujarat
