Gujarat govt approves Rs 27 crore for renovation of palace in Amreli and set up a museum there

Amreli: Amreli is set to witness the renovation of the palace built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad over one and a half century ago. The state government has approved a budget of Rs 27 crore for this project, which will include the development of a museum, a hall, and other related facilities. It is expected to be completed within three years.

According to the state assembly deputy chief whip and Amreli legislator Kaushik Vekariya, the palace is over 170 years old. A proposal was submitted to the state government for its renovation and development as a museum. A team from the archaeology department in Gandhinagar conducted a survey after the Amreli district collector sent the proposal, and the state government subsequently approved the budget.
