Gujarat ATS busts weapon smuggling gang; arrests 6 with 15 pistols

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) took down a gang that was involved in smuggling and supplying weapons in Ahmedabad on Saturday, resulting in the arrest of six individuals who possessed 15 pistols and five locally-made guns.

Acting on a tip-off about individuals smuggling weapons from Madhya Pradesh, the ATS team arrested two persons at a bus station on April 4 with four pistols and four cartridges.

The duo, who hailed Gujarat’s Rajkot district, was arrested under the Arms Act. Subsequently, the ATS uncovered the involvement of four more persons, who were later arrested from the Surendranagar and Rajkot districts.

As per the official, the accused are notorious history sheeters with cases for murder, attempted murder, inflicting bodily harm through dangerous weapons, and violating liquor prohibition laws at various police stations.

The official stated that they are currently conducting a detailed investigation into the participation of other individuals in the illegal arms trade. DeshGujarat
