Gujarat police bring fake PMO official Kiran Patel from J&K to Ahmedabad

Gandhinagar: A team of Gujarat police officers brought Kiran Patel, a fraudster accused of impersonating as senior PMO official, from Jammu and Kashmir to Ahmedabad on Saturday.

The police team received custody of Patel on Thursday afternoon after the chief judicial magistrate in Srinagar granted their request. Patel was transported from Srinagar to Ahmedabad’s crime branch headquarters early Saturday morning. Several cases of cheating have been filed against Patel, including one by the Ahmedabad crime branch for attempting to take over a senior citizen’s bungalow.

Last month, J-K police apprehended Patel at a five-star hotel in Srinagar for posing as an “additional secretary” in the central government and receiving security and hospitality benefits. Patel claimed to have been appointed by the government to locate buyers for apple orchards in south Kashmir. Later after apprehending his wife Malini Patel, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch lodged a cheating case against the couple, prompting a team of officers to travel to Jammu and Kashmir to take Kiran Patel into custody.
