Ahmedabad: One more cheating complaint has been filed in the city police’s Crime Branch today against conman Kiran Patel under IPC sections 406, 420, and 170. The latest complaint against Kiran has been filed by Upendrasinh Dipsinh Chavda, a resident of South Bopal who is originally from Jaliya village in Dhandhuka taluka.

The complainant has in his complaint stated that Kiran took Rs. 80 lakh from him for 1867 square meter of land in Narol but didn’t deliver the land. Kiran had introduced himself as an official of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and had given a visiting card showing the same over Whatsapp.

A 36-year-old complainant is into the business of construction. He has in his complaint stated that when he visited Sabarmati central jail in 2016 to meet his friend Salimbhai Khoja, he came into interaction with Kiran Patel. Later when Salimbhai was released on bail, another interaction with Kiran took place. Kiran had then introduced himself as a tobacco trader. Later both would talk with each other over phone calls.

In March 2017, Kiran demanded money on a loan, but Chavda had refused. Kiran then came in person to meet Chavda in Bopal and said he wanted to sell the land he had got from his forefather in Narol area of Ahmedabad. Chavda and Patel both went to Narol where Kiran showed 225/B survey number land for plotting. Chavda when checked, found the land was owned by Vishal Corporation’s proprietor Kiran Patel. After discussions, Chavda fixed a deal for Rs. 80 lahks with Kiran Patel for the purchase of the 1867 square meter land out of a total of 4325 square meter of non-agriculture land at 225/B survey of Narol owned by Kiran Patel.

Chavda then paid Rs. 25 lakh in different installments. A banakhat agreement was later signed at Narol sub registrar office. A condition was made that dastavej will be made after six months post-title clearance. Later rest of the amount which was Rs. 55 lakh was given to Kiran Patel in cash. However, Kiran didn’t clear the title in six months which was a breach of the condition. When contacted over a phone call, he didn’t reply. Chavda then sent a notice through his lawyer but there was no reply. Later whenever Chavda would contact Kiran, the latter would make different excuses. Kiran eventually put Chavda’s phone number in the black list. Chavda then started visiting Kiran’s rented residence in Ghodasar area but Kiran was not available and his wife was not giving proper reply. Chavda has in his complaint stated that as he had banakhat agreement with him, he didn’t file a complaint against Kiran.

Later in February 2023, Kiran Patel called Chavda and said that latter had no reason to worry. Kiran claimed that he was in PM office and he was assigned important responsibilities and tasks. Kiran said he was in Kashmir. He then on 27 February this year sent videos in which he was roaming in Kashmir with police protection. Kiran also whatsapped his visiting card in which he had claimed he was serving as Additional Director (Strategy & Campaigns) PMO, New Delhi. DeshGujarat
