2002 Gujarat riots: 69 accused in Naroda Gam case acquitted

Ahmedabad: A special designated court in Ahmedabad today pronounced its verdict in the case related to the Naroda Gam case in which 11 persons were dead during the 2002 Gujarat riots. All 69 accused are acquitted by the Court. The court complex compound was filled with the slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jay’ and ‘Jay Shri Ram’. Former minister Maya Kodnani and Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Jaydip Patel are among the accused who are acquitted. Out of 86 accused, 18 are dead during the last 21 years. One accused was absent from court today. The Judge announced one like the oral verdict. A copy of the detailed judgment is awaited.
