Man in Gujarat sentenced to 10 years jail in fake currency note case

Wankaner: The sessions court sentenced Abdul Jamalbhai Dalpotra, an advocate from Wankaner, to 10 years of strict imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 50,000 in a fake currency note case.

On December 7, 2011, Abdul Jamalbhai Dalpotra, after filling petrol worth Rs. 100 at Sangam petrol pump on Kuvadva road, gave a duplicate currency note of Rs. 1000 to the complainant, Bhaveshbhai Nadiadi. When Bhaveshbhai discovered that the note was fake, he attempted to apprehend Abdul, who attempted to flee the scene. Despite Abdul’s efforts to escape, Bhaveshbhai eventually caught him and filed a complaint at Kuvadva road police station under section 489(B).

The public prosecutor, Paragbhai Shah, examined 23 documentary evidences and 11 witnesses at the site of the incident. The FSL report confirmed the currency note to be fake. Consequently, the sessions court sentenced Abdul to 10 years of strict imprisonment and a penalty of Rs. 50,000. Failure to pay the penalty will result in an additional year of imprisonment.
