Sola police nab two from Rajasthan in online sextortion case that led to victim’s suicide

Ahmedabad: Sola police nabbed two persons from Bharatpur in a sextortion case where a man killed himself after paying more than Rs 8 lakh to the sextortionists.

Police nabbed accused Ansar Hussein Mev and Irshad Mev from Bharatpur in Rajasthan for threatening a 37-year-old Chandlodia resident to make his nude video viral. The accused demanded Rs 5,00,000 to absolve him of all charges, threatening him with jail if he did not pay. Despite paying Rs 8,60,600, the victim killed himself on April 21 when the blackmailing continued.

The accused had posed as a CBI inspector and a YouTuber, threatening to make the victim’s nude video viral. The police caught the accused from the nearby forest area based on their mobile locations. The two accused used to create fake identities of women to blackmail people and used dummy SIM cards to ensure they were not caught. Police are questioning the accused about their aides and other persons they may have trapped.

Modus Operandi:

-Accused would send a Facebook friend request to males using fake female ID.

– Once the victim accepts the request, the fake female would enter into a chat conversation and exchange phone numbers.

-The conversation would then switch to Whatsapp chat.

-No female involved. Only males would do this scam by using fake female ID.

-Readymade video clip download online would be used in conversation in which a woman would remove her clothes.

-Victim would be asked to remove his clothes too.

-Another mobile phone would be used to capture the screen activity and a video would be made in which the victim male would remove his clothes.

-Later the males would call the victim and tell that the girl committed suicide.

-Money would be extorted by threatening police and CBI cases and circulation of nude video of victim male.
