Rajkot: The students of the Department of Biochemistry at Saurashtra University made an organic hair dye from the waste from mandirs.
A total of 5 students in the 4th semester of MSc Biochemistry have made a natural hair dye from the plant-based waste of mandirs such as marigold flowers, dry leaf, and coconut peel. It took 4 months for them to produce the dye. The dye is made at a minimal custom they said.
A total of 21 plant-based items such as roses, marigolds, and dry leaves were used for dye. The dye is chemical free, long-lasting, and has no side effects, a student said. The topic of ‘best out of organic waste’ was given to the students for the dissertation to the MSc 4th semester students.
