Ahmedabad hottest in state with yellow heat alerts on May 15-16

Gandhinagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Ahmedabad for May 15 and 16. On Sunday, Ahmedabad recorded the highest temperature in Gujarat, reaching 43.5 degrees Celsius. Today, the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad is very likely to be at 42 degrees Celsius.

During the next two days, the temperature is expected to decrease by 1-2 degrees. However, after two days, the mercury is projected to gradually rise by 2-3 degrees, according to Manorama Mohanty, Director at the Gujarat headquarters of the central government’s weather department – IMD.

The Meteorological Centre in Ahmedabad predicts that the city’s maximum temperature will remain above 41 degrees Celsius throughout the week. A heatwave is most likely to occur on May 15, and very likely on May 16, 17, and 18.

When maximum temp. departure ≥ 6.5 deg. C from normal & maximum temperature ≥ 40 deg.C

Heat wave Criteria :

When maximum temp. departure ≥ 4.5 deg. C from normal & maximum temperature ≥ 40 deg.C
