Bhavnagar builders jailed for construction violations and RERA non-compliance

Bhavnagar: In a firm stance against those who disregard the orders of the Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Gujrera), the authority has imposed a 30-day imprisonment sentence on builders in Bhavnagar for substandard construction and failure to provide adequate facilities to homeowners.

Gujrera, the regulatory authority responsible for overseeing property-related laws and encouraging investment in the real estate sector, plays a crucial role in safeguarding the interests of citizens. It ensures the resolution of property-related disputes and takes legal action against builders who violate its orders. The recent verdict by Gujrera’s Secretary highlights the consequences faced by builders in Bhavnagar who failed to comply with the authority’s directives.

Numerous citizens filed complaints with Gujarat RERA concerning pending construction work, such as lifts and parking facilities, and issues related to weak and substandard construction in the “Rudra Residency” project located in Bhavnagar. The authority had previously ordered the builders to install four lifts in wings C and D within a three-month timeframe.

However, as the builders failed to provide the promised facilities within the stipulated period, the complainants filed an execution petition with Gujarat RERA. In response to the petition, Gujrera issued an arrest warrant against the partners of Rudra Developers, namely Babubhai Veljibhai Baraiya and Hasmukhbhai Shantilal Mer. Both individuals have now been sentenced to 30 days of imprisonment and have been sent to Gujarat RERA Civil Jail. DeshGujarat
