Gujarat Police uncover human trafficking scam

Ahmedabad: The police uncovered a human trafficking scam while investigating the abduction of a minor female from Ahmedabad and her intended trade in Rajasthan.
On May 12th, a complaint was filed at Kanbha police station regarding the abduction of a 13-year-old girl. The investigation was undertaken by the Local crime branch (LCB) and Special Operation Group (SOG). The accused, Ashok Patel, allegedly abducted the minor with the assistance of his wife, Renuka, and one Rupal Macwan. They planned to trade her for Rs 2 lakh in Rajasthan, but the police apprehended all three suspects before the trade could occur.
The accused targeted economically disadvantaged minor females as part of their modus operandi. They would sexually abuse them through enticements and force, prepare them for marriages in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, and trade them at high prices for marriage.
The accused, Ashok Patel (42 years old), allegedly sexually abused the minor female, with assistance from his wife, Renuka. Rupal Macwan (34 years old) transported the minor to Boru village in Mansa, Gandhinagar, following her abduction. A person named Moti Senma provided them refuge in Boru. Ashok Patel’s minor son is also implicated in the scam. Additionally, 70-year-old Amaratji Jagniya (from Samdi, Palanpur) and 34-year-old Cheharsinh Solanki worked as brokers in the scam.
