Gujarat govt hands over disproportionate assets case against Ex-Gandhinagar Collector to ACB

Gandhinagar: The state government has handed over the investigation against former Gandhinagar collector SK Langa to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets.

The ACB will examine his bank accounts, gold and silver items, fixed deposits, properties, and other relevant assets. A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed, led by Gandhinagar SP Tarun Dugal, to investigate revenue and other related issues. The ACB obtained prior permission from the state home department to initiate an investigation against SK Langa. In the past, an FIR was filed against SK Langa in Panchmahal, but he was not arrested as he obtained anticipatory bail.

A retired IAS officer, S.K. Langa, who previously served as the Gandhinagar collector, was booked by the Gujarat Police for allegedly engaging in illegal activities during his tenure. He is accused of accepting gratification, breaching trust, and participating in unlawful trade. Langa allegedly misused his position to grant non-agricultural land use permissions illegally. The FIR was filed based on a complaint from a district collectorate officer. Langa faces charges under various sections of the IPC and has also been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The investigation, led by retired IAS officer Vinay Vyas, revealed a fraudulent scheme involving the illegal issuance of non-agricultural land use permissions. This occurred during Langa’s tenure as a collector from April 6, 2018, to September 30, 2019, and resulted in significant financial losses for the government. DeshGujarat
