CM grants in-principle approval for construction of 8 flyovers in Surat

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government provides grants through the Golden Jubilee Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme for development projects in the peripheral areas of metropolises and for public amenities within the Urban Development Authority’s jurisdiction.

As part of this initiative, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has allocated a sum of Rs. 5 crore 11 lakh for various works. The proposal, presented by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation on behalf of the Gujarat Municipal Finance Board, has received in-principle approval.

This approval by the Chief Minister enables the construction of elevated water tanks to facilitate water supply to villages such as Bhaijipoora, Amiyapura, Raisan, Randesan, Kolwada, and other areas falling under the purview of the Gandhinagar Metropolitan Municipality.

Furthermore, CM Patel has granted approval to a proposal worth Rs. 36.69 crore for the development of 10 ponds, as presented by the Surat Urban Development Authority (SUDA) and Gujarat Urban Development Mission. The Surat Urban Development Authority will be required to obtain board approval and undergo third-party inspections for these projects.

In addition, considering the growing traffic congestion in Surat, the Chief Minister has given in-principle approval to a revised proposal worth Rs. 390 crore for the construction of eight flyovers. This proposal was submitted by the Surat Municipal Corporation through the Gujarat Municipal Finance Board, with the aim of effectively managing the increasing traffic load in the city. DeshGujarat
