ACB Gujarat nabs police constable and accomplice in bribery case

Patan: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed a Police Constable and his accomplice in a bribe case involving the sum of Rs. 3,50,000 bribe money in Varahi in Santalpur taluka of Patan.

A complaint is filed against accused Police Constable Hari Singh Sardar Singh Vaghela from Warahi Police Station (Class-III) and Iqbal Khan Karim Khan (Sumalji) Malek. According to the complaint, a bribe of Rs. 3,50,000/- was demanded by, Hari Singh Vaghela, in exchange for concealing the identity of the complainant’s nephew as a suspect in a CRPC 41-1(D) case filed at Warahi Police Station and refraining from arresting him.

Unwilling to pay the bribe the complainant contacted ACB. In a successfully carried out trap the accused Hari Singh Vaghela, and his accomplice, Iqbal Khan Karim Khan (Sumalji) Malek, were caught in the act of accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 3,50,000/-. The ACB successfully recovered the entire amount during the trap conducted at Korda Juna Bus Station, Khedut Agro Shop, Warahi, District Santalpur, G. Patan. ACB has detained both of the accused.
