Junagadh: Police have booked twelve individuals for causing a commotion at Junagadh government hospital, which aided an accused person in fleeing police custody.
These twelve individuals primarily consist of family members of the escaped accused, Sagar Rathod, who is facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Multiple teams have initiated a search for the fugitive.
According to the case details, Sagar had violated the terms of his parole while out on interim bail and was nabbed by police again in a raid. At that time Sagar tried to escape but sustained injuries in the process and was taken to the government hospital in Junagadh for treatment.
Simultaneously, a group of over a dozen people, including Sagar’s mother, grandmother, and other relatives, arrived at the hospital campus. Among these individuals, one of Sagar’s relatives named Akash took out a bottle of petrol on himself and attempted to douse himself with it. Several officers intervened to prevent Akash from carrying out the act.
Amidst the chaos, Sagar managed to slip away and escape on a motorcycle. Although the police gave chase, they were unable to apprehend him. Following the incident, the Junagadh local crime branch detained four individuals for questioning as they took over the investigation.
An offense has been registered against Sagar and several others, primarily his family members. The charges include aiding the escape of a criminal from custody, obstructing duty, and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). DeshGujarat
