Ahmedabad: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the city police has detained 18 Bangladeshi nationals who were residing and working here in the city illegally without proper documentation.
Acting on instructions from the city crime branch and the Gujarat anti-terrorist squad (ATS), the SOG formed five teams. 18 individuals were nabbed in various areas such as Bapunagar, Odhav, Isanpur, and Chanakyapuri over the course of the past few days. Primary investigation revealed that these men, aged between 20 and 40, entered the country illegally through land borders and were residing in Ahmedabad without proper permits or registrations.
The SOG has initiated a thorough investigation to determine if any of them were involved in criminal activities.
It is also noteworthy that recently the Gujarat ATS arrested four Bangladeshi nationals from the city who were allegedly members of an al-Qaida module. DeshGujarat
