Rajkot MLA seeks effective execution of Disturbed Areas Act in her constituency areas

Rajkot: A ruling party MLA, Darshitaben Shah, has raised the issue of improper implementation of the Disturbed Areas Act in Ward No. 2 of Rajkot. She has brought this matter to the attention of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi.

Numerous representations were received from the local residents of the Rajkot West assembly seat stating that the Disturbed Areas Act (Ashantdhara) was not being enforced in certain areas. MLA Dr. Darshitaben Shah presented these representations to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and MoS Home Harsh Sanghvi in Gandhinagar. The MLA emphasised that the government has implemented the Disturbed Areas Act in different areas of Ward No. 2 in Rajkot Municipality, and it should be strictly enforced, particularly in residential areas. The MLA also noted that there were instances of illegal occupation of buildings by Muslims despite the properties being owned by Hindus. These concerns raised by the residents prompted the MLA to take action.

Furthermore, the MLA highlighted that tenants in rented houses in the area do not sign leases or contracts, which creates ambiguity regarding who has rented the premises. The MLA urged the government to direct the concerned departments to take strict action to prevent any serious problems from arising in the future.

It is worth noting that the MLA and local residents had previously presented the issue to the District Collector, but no proper implementation has been observed so far. Therefore, the MLA requested that the Chief Minister and MoS Home find a quick solution. After listening to the MLA’s submission, the Chief Minister and Home Minister promptly informed the officials and assured them that the issues would be resolved. DeshGujarat
