‘Ananth Anaadih Vadnagar’ documentary premieres today on Discovery Channel

Vadnagar: A documentary titled “Ananth Anaadih Vadnagar,” telling the story of the ancient city of Vadnagar through digital reconstructions and expert accounts, will be premiered today.

The documentary, set to air on Discovery Channel and Discovery Plus in India at 9 p.m., explores the rich history of Vadnagar, starting with its evolution from a small village to a significant city during the Mauryan era. Hosted by Manoj Muntashir Shukla, the series brings the city’s civilization and historical events to life through expert conversations and 3D animation.

Vadnagar, located approximately 100 km from Ahmedabad in Mehsana district, is a historic town with a population of around 28,000. The documentary covers various themes, including the town’s 2,500 years of existence, its history and culture, the contributions of scholars, artisans, and musicians, the preservation of culture and diversity, trade and industries, archaeological finds, and its relevance to the present time.

In December 2022, Vadnagar town, along with the Sun Temple at Modhera and the rock-cut relief sculptures of Unakoti, were added to the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This recognition is expected to boost tourism in Vadnagar and Gujarat as a whole. DeshGujarat
