June 14, 2023
Kutch: As Cyclone Biparjoy continues its path towards Gujarat, several districts in the coastal area of Gujarat, including Kutch, have implemented precautionary measures by temporarily closing schools and colleges.
An official notice issued by the Kutch District Education Officer (DEO) stated that, for the safety and well-being of the students, all government, granted, and non-granted primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools and colleges are strictly instructed not to summon students to school under any circumstances from June 13th to June 15th, 2023.
In alignment with these precautions, Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Junagadh districts located in the Saurashtra region of the state have declared a holiday for schools.
According to officials, schools in Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Junagadh districts will remain closed today and tomorrow, while schools in Kutch will be closed from today, June 12th, until June 15th, 2023.
Similarly, in Rajkot district, schools will observe closures on both June 14th and 15th. In Porbandar, Morbi, Amreli, and Gir Somnath districts, schools will be closed on June 15th. Authorities in these regions have prioritised the safety of students and staff by proactively suspending educational activities in anticipation of severe weather conditions.
The decision to temporarily close educational institutions aligns with the precautionary guidelines recommended by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), which has issued red alerts for the Saurashtra-Kutch region. DeshGujarat
