Gandhinagar: A huge twitter storm containing over 77,000 tweets (as on 9 pm on 3rd March) was witnessed today with hashtag #WeWantKarnavati, demanding the name of the city Ahmedabad to be changed to Karnavati, the erstwhile name of the city.

Sabarmati: Renown doctor Vasant Patel has in a letter to ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief CR Patil demanded Ahmedabad to be renamed as Karnavati.

#ISupportKarnavati was number one trend with addition of more than one thousand tweets per hour. Total number of tweets had crossed 20,000 figure on Sunday itself. Tweets were raining in support of Karnavati naming of city even on Tuesday.

Ahmedabad: I was surprised to see some historians and journos questioning actuality of existence of Karnavati. This article points out some facts that are neglected/omitted by such gentlemen while claiming that Karnavati is fringe of imagination.

Sentiments prevailing in section of people in Gujarat against the name of the city of Ahmedabad are not completely unfounded. Gandhinagar: The government of Gujarat today admitted that it has not sent any proposal to Centre for changing the name of the city of Ahmedabad as Karnavati.
