Bird census: Highest ever 3.15 lakh birds in Nal Sarovar, 57,000 in Thol, 5.50 lakh Flamingos in Rann of Kutch

Over 3.15 lakh birds of 131 varieties have been counted in Nal Sarovar bird sanctuary during 2-day long census on 8-9 February which is highest ever, while over 57,000 birds of 87 varieties have been counted in Thol bird sanctuary. Both these bird sanctuaries are located near the city of Ahmedabad. Gandhinagar Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today announced estimated figures of bird census conducted at Nal Sarovar and Thal Sarovar bird sanctuaries situated near Ahmedabad during 29-30 January. Ahmedabad Counting of birds kicked off today at Nal Sarovar and Thol bird sanctuary near Ahmedabad. Counting will continue tomorrow. Entry of visitors has been banned during these two days. At Nal Sarovar, there are total 38 blocks created. In each block, 3-4 persons would conduct the counting process.
