Gandhinagar: India's largest power producer NTPC plans to set up an ultra-mega solar park in Gujarat for a phased capacity of 5000 MW at an estimated investment of Rs 20,000 crore as per a report in Business daily Business Standard.
According to Gurdeep Singh, chairman and managing director, NTPC has identified two-three locations in the Kutch district and the park is likely to developed at Rs 4 crore per MW cost.

New Delhi: NTPC Ltd's Kawas has become first power unit in the state to install 1MW grid-connected floating solar project, which is likely to be commissioned in April 2019.
Debashish Das, NTPC director, Kawas, told reporters, “The work to set up the grid-connected floating solar project on Kawas campus was going on for the past six months and is nearing completion. The project is all set to be commissioned in April 2019. This is first floating solar power project in Gujarat.”

Surat: National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC) has signed Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) for scientific processing of solid waste and power generation through that. MoU was signed by SMC commissioner and NTPC GM (waste to energy) Amit Kulkshetra along with director CV Subramanyam.
As per the MoU, SMC will give per day 1000 mt RDF based solid waste to NTPC Kavas through which NTPC will generate power.

The Gujarat government claimed on the floor of the Assembly today that it would save Rs 160 crore due to coal swapping and ultimately pass on the benefit to coal consumers.
Gujarat Energy Minister Saurabh Patel stated in his written reply to Congress MLA Gyasuddin Shaikh during Question Hour today that a coal swap deal was signed between the state-run Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL) and the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) during September last year.
