Surat: Unit  of Kakrapar Atomic Power Station(KAPS) which was non functional for last over two years due to leakage has now achieved criticality and resumed nuclear fission chain reaction in reactor at full capacity. 220 MWe KAPS  unit achieved criticality at 2.22 am on Monday after fulfilling all procedures as per the prescribed norms and procedures. Ahmedabad A day after one of the units of Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS) near Surat in Gujarat was shut down after heavy water leakage, a team of experts today began a probe to identify the cause of the leak even as officials reaffirmed that there was no radioactive release at the site.
