New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Shipping (I/C) Mansukh Mandaviya today flagged off the first trial container ship from Kolkata to Agartala through Chattogram Port of Bangladesh, in a virtual ceremony. This has been done under the Agreement on use of Chattogram and Mongla Ports for movement of India’s transit cargo through Bangladesh.

Gandhinagar: Ghogha - Dahej RoRo Ferry with combined efforts for Government of Gujarat and Central Government will resume tidal operations from 24th February, 2020.
Presently, ferry will operate in tide(high water) and in daylight. It will make one round trip each day. Government has assured that dredging at Dahej will continue to provide sufficient draft for ferry for two round trips a day.

Gandhinagar: Indian Customs officials detained a ship named Da Cui Yun -- bearing a Hong Kong flag and bound for Port Qasim in Karachi from Jiangyin port on the Yangtze river in China’s Jiangsu province -- for wrongly declaring an autoclave, which can be used in the launch process of ballistic missiles, as an industrial dryer. Pipavav: APM Terminals Pipavav [Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd] today in a statement said it has commenced operation of ‘drive-through container scanner’ effective 1st December 2019. Bhavnagar: World's one of the oldest aircraft career INS Virat which offered its services to Indian Navy for period as long as 30 years has been now sold to Alang(Gujarat) based ship breaker firm Shri Ram Shipping through online auction for its demolition.

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has in-principle approved construction of a 485-metre long new jetty at the Navlakhi port by Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) at a cost of Rs.192.33-crore to increase its capacity 20 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA).
This is in addition to Rs.40-crores assistance it has received from Central Government’s under Sagarmala Project for future development.

Hazira (Surat): Essar Bulk Terminal Ltd (EBTL), a part of Essar Ports, said it has completed work on the Passenger Ferry Terminal that has paved the way for a cruise-based passenger ferry service, commencing today, between Hazira Port in Surat and Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai.
