Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat today announced special relaxations for MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) sector industrial units in solar policy declared by the State government in year 2015. The government said this decision has been taken to encourage the industries to scale up solar power generation.

Gandhinagar: India's largest power producer NTPC plans to set up an ultra-mega solar park in Gujarat for a phased capacity of 5000 MW at an estimated investment of Rs 20,000 crore as per a report in Business daily Business Standard.
According to Gurdeep Singh, chairman and managing director, NTPC has identified two-three locations in the Kutch district and the park is likely to developed at Rs 4 crore per MW cost.

Gandhinagar: Gujarat is No.1 in installation of rooftop solar projects with installed capacity of 261.97 Mega Watt (MW) as on 23 July, 2019. Total rooftop solar installation in India stands at 1,700.54 MW. Gujarat is followed by Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu with 198.52 MW and 151.62 MW respectively. Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shri R. K. Singh provided the information in Rajya Sabha on July 23, 2019 while replying to a question raised by MP Shri Parimal Nathwani.

Gandhinagar:Gujarat government today announced that it would directly purchase renewable energy from those who produce 500 Kilo Watt to 4 Mega Watt of it.
Energy minister Saurabh Patel today said that Gujarat has set a target of production capacity building for 15000 MW more renewable energy in the next 3 years at an investment of Rs one lakh crore. Of this 10000 would be from Solar Energy sector and 5000 MW from wind energy.

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has taken a decision to launch pilot project of 'Gram Panchayat Pey Jal Saur Urja Yojana' (village panchayat drinking water solar power scheme) covering 300 villages. Under this programme, gram panchayats will be given solar pump facility for drinking water supply.
The government will spend Rs 4440 crore for this scheme. Each kw power generation will require 10 sqm land. Existing land used for water works would be suitable for this scheme.
